In context

KapadiaJosh Allen, first in MVP odds.

KapadiaBrock Purdy, number two. And he's got this big game against Seattle coming up this weekend where they've got more of their guys than they had in the playoffs last year. I feel like if Purdy plays well in this game and the 49ers beat the Seahawks, this is going to be a conversation a lot of people are having next week.

PelisseroBrock, when healthy, is the most efficient quarterback in NFL history. and that is a statistical fact. If he had enough qualifying starts, he would be number one by far in passer rating. He leads the NFL this season in passer rating. And I know that that's not a complete quarterback statistic because of the value that Josh Allen brings in terms of being a runner.

PelisseroBrock can make things happen with his legs when he needs to as well. And it's not everything within the structure of the Shanahan system, although he's very, very good at that. It's also those things he can make happen outside of structure. The only reason that Brock Purdy shouldn't be in the MVP race this season is if he gets hurt.

PelisseroHe's gotten hurt basically every season of his career and he's missed time. If he doesn't do that, if he plays all 17 games and finishes with a 126 passer rating, I find it hard to believe that he's not right there with those other guys. And then you get into the subjectivity of the voting.

PelisseroAnd what are we actually basing it on? When I had a vote for those awards, I would basically pull people in the league and let them cast the vote for me because I ultimately don't know what I'm looking at. They do. There's other people who just vote based on their gut or vote based on, you know, whatever highlight reel they saw.

PelisseroAnd everyone gets to do that. I don't think there's any, you know, real ground rules that the AP has other than, you know, you can't vote for like non -football stuff. Like you don't like a guy or his politics or whatever. You can't vote against him for that.
