Take Makers tracks predictions made on sports podcasts and how they turn out. You can browse everything without an account. This page explains the little we collect, and why.

If you sign in

You can sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email. We keep your name, email address and, with Google, your profile photo, so we can show who’s signed in and keep your saved takes in your account. We don’t get your Google password or anything else from your Google account, and we don’t post anything on your behalf.

Sign-in emails are sent through Postmark. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 60 days.

Saves and reactions

When you save a take, we store which takes you saved, in your account. Reactions (🔥 🥶 👀 🔒 🧢) don’t need an account: a cookie with a random id keeps one set of reactions per browser, and to stop abuse we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address, never the address itself.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets its own cookies; it doesn’t receive your name or email.

Requests and email

If you use “Request a show”, we receive what you type, and your email if you give one, so we can reply.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell or share your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Your choices

You can sign out at any time. To have your account and saved takes deleted, or for any question about your data, email chris@chrismeisner.com.

Where data is kept

The site runs on Heroku; accounts, saves and reactions are stored in a Postgres database (Neon) in the United States. Episode audio is served from Google Cloud Storage.
