In context
McAfeeHe hit the crossbar. Maybe hit the back post, but we counted it because we didn't have as much of a zoom in on it. He seems to have the moxie of a guy that could go on to win a title. The team opted out of the Pop -Tart Bowl last year to come back to go on a run that they're going on.
McAfeeThey're dominating people. And then BYU, Ryan Smith just talked about it. It feels like it's been a couple years in the making waiting to shock the world, which they certainly could do. What have you seen on film, and what do you expect?
McAfeeWell,
Sabanfirst of all, Notre Dame has a good team, and, you know, C.J. Carr is obviously an outstanding player, but Notre Dame hasn't really been tested, I don't think. I think they will be tested by BYU. I think BYU has a challenging defense. They're very aggressive in terms of how they pressure their quarterback, and, you know, can Notre Dame run the ball against them?
SabanCan they handle their odd front, which they pressure a lot out, mostly simulated? They play a lot of man -to -man, so they've got to beat man coverage. How good is Notre Dame skilled players outside?
SabanAnd, you know, who turns the ball over? I think all those things are really, really important in terms of who wins this game. Now, BYU, on the other hand, you know, Bear is a load, and the quarterback runs the way they've been able to run the ball, the way they control the game, I think is very important.
SabanI do think that he has improved as a passer and as a more complete player this year than he was a year ago. And I think BYU is a pretty good football team.
